Crane - History Documentary Films

A crane is a type of device, generally outfitted with a hoist, cable ropes or chains, and sheaves, that can be used both to raise and lower products and to relocate them horizontally. Cranes are commonly used in the transportation industry for the loading and discharging of freight, in the building sector for the activity of products and in the manufacturing sector for the setting up of heavy devices.

These cranes were used for the building of tall buildings. Larger cranes were later established, using the use of human treadwheels, allowing the lifting of bigger weights.

For lots of centuries, power was provided by the physical exertion of animals or guys, although hoists in watermills and windmills could possibly be driven by the harnessed organic power. The first 'mechanical' power was supplied by steam engines, the earliest steam crane being introduced in the 19th or 18th century, with many remaining in usage well into the late 20th century. Modern cranes often make use of inner burning engines or hydraulic systems and electric motors to give a much greater lifting ability than was formerly feasible, although manual cranes are still utilized where the stipulation of power would be uneconomic.
