A hangar is a shut building structure to hold airplane or spacecraft in protective storage. Most hangars are constructed of steel, yet other materials such as wood and concrete are also used.

The Wright brothers saved and mended their plane in a wooden hangar created in 1902 at Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina for their glider. After finishing style and building of the Wright Flyer in Ohio, the siblings went back to Kill Devil Hill only to locate their garage damaged.
