The Rosetta Stone is a granodiorite stele inscribed with a decree provided at Memphis in 196 BC on behalf of King Ptolemy V. The decree shows up in three manuscripts: the top text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle section Demotic script, and also the least expensive Ancient Greek.
